This Year’s Theme:

Agents of Love – A Hero’s Journey

This Year’s Theme: Agents of Love: A Hero’s Journey

Has there ever been more to distract and disorientate us from our mission in the world? I don’t need to make a list, we all know and feel it.

So this is the opportunity to remember what is important in our hearts, the world needs Agents of Love right now!

This festival will take us on a journey throughout the days to find our inner gold and to bring that back to our communities and loved ones. There maybe challenges, inner struggle, but also allies and guides to help you find your particular brand of hero… The theme will be woven throughout the day and you might find that you are given some secret missions to help discover that!

Myth connects us to the Universe

“It would not be too much to say that myth is the secret opening through which the inexhaustible energies of the cosmos pour into the human cultural manifestation.”

Joseph Campbell

What is the Hero’s Journey?

The Hero’s Journey is a narrative pattern in which an ordinary protagonist is called away from their normal life, faces challenges and inner change through trials, gains new knowledge or power, and returns transformed to benefit their world.

Stages (with brief descriptions)

  1. Ordinary World — The hero’s normal life, establishing context and stakes.
  2. Call to Adventure — A disruption or opportunity invites change.
  3. Refusal of the Call — The hero hesitates or resists out of fear or duty.
  4. Meeting the Mentor — A guide provides advice, tools, or confidence.
  5. Crossing the Threshold — The hero commits and enters the special world.
  6. Tests, Allies, and Enemies — Trials reveal strengths, form bonds, and identify foes.
  7. Approach to the Inmost Cave — Preparation for a major challenge; facing doubts.
  8. Ordeal (Supreme Ordeal) — A crisis or confrontation where the hero faces death or deepest fear.
  9. Reward (Seizing the Sword) — After surviving, the hero gains an object, insight, or power.
  10. The Road Back — The hero begins the return to the ordinary world, often pursued or tested.
  11. Resurrection — A final climactic test that transforms the hero fully (often symbolic death/rebirth).
  12. Return with the Elixir — The hero returns home with something that heals or improves the ordinary world.

The True Kingdom is Inside

“Where are decisions made? It is normal to believe that they are being made in the part of the mind that is conscious to us. Most of us have some sense of the unconscious, but are mostly underestimating it: – really our conscious mind sits like a small wave on top of deep ocean.

We remain a mystery to ourselves. We are too busy with what we’ve been told is important by others, we have been unavoidably conditioned by culture . “To step beyond all we have ever known into the Hero’s journey” is also stepping deeper into uncovering one’s own nature through the different facets of the soul. Myths and archetypes are our allies in discovering our original faces” .

James Stevenson

Enjoy the Theme by Dressing Up!

Every year we have opportunities to dress up – from sexy lingerie/kimonos etc in the temple evenings to embodying your hero in a costume you choose. And our photographers are on hand to capture you in your glory if you desire. These images will be shared with you all afterwards. This year we will have a Greek Themed Temple night and also a Hero themed Biodanza journey.

As always it is entirely optional, only if it feels fun for you!
